Print: The Must-Haves

All of your essentials, telling your story.

Business Cards

If there's only one print piece to invest in, it's your business card. Full color printing costs have come way down, so it pays to do full color on both sides. No budget for a brochure? Ask us about double-sided or multi-panel business cards that include maps, calenders or special offers to make them "keepers." Our graphic designers can create a business card that works as an all-purpose mini-brochure.

4" x 9" Rack Card or Brochure

Everyone needs a business card of course. Beyond that, we recommend a print piece whose final dimensions are 4" x 9". This is a standard size — as a result, it has a number of advantages: 1) it's less expensive to print 2) it will comfortably fit in a standard display rack 3) the size fits in a standard no. 10 business envelope 4) it will go through postal sorting machines so you can design self-mailers and save on printing envelopes 5) it will fit into most travel bags, back packs, purses and suitcases and 6) when opened, spreads in a brochure can be as large as 16" x 9" — a good amount of space for lots of photos, maps and other information.

All in all, the 4" x 9" format offers the greatest flexibility for the best price. But which format is the right one for you? Rack card, bifold, trifold or multi-page brochure?

Rack Cards: Small But Mighty
A two-sided 4" x 9" rack card is the most economical option. Although on the small side, a rack card still has enough room for good photos, a map and short-but-sweet text. For most small businesses, a rack card is the best choice.

Bifold: Right In Between
At 8" x 9", the bifold can fit everything that a rack card can and then some. It's perfect for smaller businesses that have a main service — accommodations for example--but also need just enough room to mention another aspect or two. The main service is still the focus, but a sidebar here and there could mention small weddings and wine tastings.

Trifold: A Multitasker With Impact
The trifold format (12" x 9" folded to 4" x 9") works if the business needs to emphasize multiple aspects. For example, a larger inn offering premium accommodations should consider a trifold if they also host business meetings, weddings and fine dining events.

For Larger Businesses/Organizations
Membership directories, travel planners and other multi-page brochures are the way to go for Lodging Associations and Chambers of Commerce. For larger businesses that have multiple services — for example, a conference center offering weddings or large business gatherings--a combination of brochures can be developed for distribution to each target market.

Consistent Branding

Branded marketing materials make your business look professional and save money in the long run. Having a consistent look and feel makes your message memorable and reduces the overall cost of subsequent design projects.

Logo Design & Conversion
Our logo designs express the essence of your destination. They're also easy-to-use--from print to web and from your home computer to a professional press. Ease of use means time and money saved on every project featuring your logo. A good logo makes a difference.

Besides looking good, a critical aspect of your logo is usability. Make sure your logo poses no technical problems when you or your vendors try to use them. If you already have a logo but it was created for web-use only, you should have it converted to a vector graphic before attempting to use it on promotional products and other printed items. InsideOut has converted many logos from raster images into vector graphics. See a case study of a logo conversion.
